Questions

How much does an Olympic barbell weigh?

A men's Olympic bar weighs 20 kg (about 45 lb) and a women's bar 15 kg (about 35 lb). Technique and training bars can be 10 kg or lighter.

Which plates does the calculator use?

Standard metric plates (25, 20, 15, 10, 5, 2.5 and 1.25 kg) or standard imperial plates (45, 35, 25, 10, 5 and 2.5 lb), heaviest first so you load as few plates as possible.

Do collars count?

Spring clips weigh next to nothing. Competition collars weigh 2.5 kg each; if you use them, subtract 5 kg from the target.
